Since its founding, the Riedel Children's Foundation has supported the construction of the iThemba Primary School in Capricorn. Children from the socially and economically disadvantaged township of Cape Town are able to go to the school, because we are firmly convinced that every child has a right to education!

The elementary school is part of a comprehensive and holistic education project under the leadership of Help Alliance, an aid organization from Lufthansa Group and its employees. Each year since 2006, the iThemba Preschool offers 75 children between the ages of 3 and 6 the opportunity for a better future through a qualified pre-school education which includes English lessons and healthy meals. In order to be able to continue to provide the children with qualified and loving care, the project has been expanded to include the iThemba Primary School.

The first construction phase of the elementary school was completed and will officially open after the South African summer holidays on January 31, 2018. This includes seven classrooms and a block of bathrooms. The first school year starts with 3 classes with 35 students each. In order for more children to be accepted in the next few years, the school must continually expand. Again, it takes a lot of helping hands, but specifically, 15,000 bricks to build four new classrooms and another block of bathrooms.
